A review of the diary of anne frank

Van Daan as played to perfection by Harris Yulin and Linda Lavin win our hearts as they reach into themselves and display the feeling they have for each other and this circumstance-created extended family. I felt apprehensive that this new play might turn Anne Frank into an ever more homogenized Everygirl teenager.

The play is well-made by virtue of it's move beyond the by now famous diary of a young girl to depict a microcosm of the Nazis' millions of victims -- Anne Frank's immediate family, the four other people who shared their terrible adventure and their protectors. Sign in to vote.

The Whole Story" is still a TV adaption made by Americans indespite the fact that most of the characters are from Britain. Petronella Van Daan, her lips are always as red as cherry, and her untimely humor is extremely annoying and unnecessary.

If emotional arousal and enlightenment is part of your definition of an entertaining must-see play, The Diary most assuredly fits the bill. Equally inspiring is the relationship between the families in the secret annex and the friends outside who protect and feed them.

In the book, she shines through as a very normal teen with talent, spirit, and a hunger for learning. Second, the book is enormously telling about the inner life of girls in their early teens.

I felt very sad and depressed and it would have been the last thing to occur to me that it was uninteresting; I was just taken by her wish to see the outside world again, feel the fresh wind and to go to school, but Her romance with the more introverted Peter Van Daan sensitively portrayed Jonathan Kaplan nicely adds a romantic touch with which a young '90s audience can identify.

It also doesn't take a psychologist to see how the unbearable stress of their situation exacerbates the various frailties of these very decent people. Searching for streaming and purchasing options The adult Anne most appreciates is her father, who seems quiet, kind, and intelligent.
